Time to Meet the Timbrook Team

It was time to get serious now that we had our permit to run a five bedroom bed and breakfast here in Columbus, Ohio. I am naturally a hard worker and the thought of what it takes to run such an operation did not scare me in the slightest.
What did put butterflies in my stomach was the thought of all the website work and marketing that would have to be done on a daily basis. Just where would I find the time for that if I was going to do all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, ironing, greeting, not to mention all my other chores around our home that begged for my attention?!

What popped into my head as the answer to this dilemma was.. Whitney!!! Our beautiful, loving, capable, savvy, computer guru! Little did I know that Whitney was unhappy at her current job and was wanting to find something that she could do from the comfort of her home, especially since she just found out that she was pregnant with her first child. She and her husband, Jesse Thompson, thought joining The Timbrook Guesthouse Bed and Breakfast was an excellent idea!

Whitney Thompson Joins Columbus, Ohio’s Newest Bed and Breakfast!

Having Whitney come on board to join Peter and I on our new adventure made it even more exciting and special. She took care of a world, the computer world, that I did not care to delve in. And her work here meant that we would be getting to spend a lot of time together. To this date, Whitney gets so much praise and compliments on The Timbrook Guesthouse website.

Eight months pass into our new endeavor and by the end of August 2014, I was drowning and depressed because I was not keeping up with all the work that needed to be done around here. Especially, outside in my gardens. The whole summer sped by and while our Columbus Inn was slowing developing into a successful business, my sanity was taking a hit! I always found having my hands in the dirt of my gardens peaceful and therapeutic. And I was not finding the time to get my hands dirty and that was making me more and more moody which wasn’t me at all. I was spending my days doing the daily tasks to keep current guests happy and then to get the house and rooms ready for the new arrivals. From our bed and breakfast beginning, my best friend, Jodi Haueisen, had told me to call her if I found myself sinking. She wanted to come work for me. So, one night late in August of 2014, I called my dear friend and said, “Help!!! I’ve sunk!!!”. She arrived the next day with spring in her step and smiling from ear to ear and said, “No fear! Jodi’s here!”.

Columbus, Ohio’s Best Bed and Breakfast Buddy!

So here I am in Columbus, Ohio making my dream come true of running an inn with my best friend and daughter by my side! It’s The Gilmore Girls in real life! My life! Jodi is to me what Sookie was to Lorelai! And Whitney shines in the spotlight like Rory! I often think back to the nights of watching this chick flick series with our girls and thinking, maybe one day… Now The Dragonfly Inn of yesterday turns into The Timbrook Guesthouse of today! And it is just as crazy and fun as the television show!

And Then There Were Three at the Columbus Bed and Breakfast…

Greatness comes in threes, right? The Three Musketeers, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, My Three Sons, The Three Stooges… So, it seemed right about a year ago to add a beautiful, curly red haired young lady to my Timbrook Team. Caitlin Moon came in moving faster than a speeding bullet! Literally! Let’s just say, “Beep Beep!”. The Road Runner has nothing on our newest member! Having her extra pair of hands around really helps keep The Timbrook Guesthouse squeaky clean.

So, if you have a hankering to visit Columbus, Ohio for a romantic getaway, celebration, staycation, family reunion, business venture or for any other events that Columbus hosts, please come stay at The Timbrook Bed and Breakfast and let my “A” Team take care of you!

Chow for now!
